This brochure is for those of you who want more information about sadomasochism (S&M) and fetish sex between men. The brochure deals with how to go about this kind of sex safely without transmitting HIV and other kinds of sexually transmitted infections. Most kinds of fetishism or S&M are safe sex or can be practised as safe sex. Some can also be considered as safe sex when it comes to dealing with the transmission of sexual infections. This brochure gives you, as a lesbian, tips on how to look after your health. Women who have sex with women have their own challenges. Most lesbians enjoy good health but compared to heterosexuals there are many more who struggle. The biggest problem is that many of us believe that “women’s troubles” only concern heterosexual women. Some of us therefore do not bother having regular checkups – for example; with a gynaecologist. This brochure is about how men can have sex together with the least possible risk of being infected with HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Taking care of one another and being more secure about our boundaries and sexuality puts us in the best possible position to enjoy our sex life. Good sex, for some, is important just because it is good sex. For others good sex is an important part of falling, and of being, in love. In the 70s and early 80s syphilis was common in Norway amongst men who had sex with men. After HIV was discovered, syphilis was eradicated from the gay community and remained absent until 1998. Gay & Lesbian Health Norway's work is all about eradicating the differences in ocurring health issues among men who have sex with men and women who have sex with women.
